Atonement is an awesome film.
The Dunkirk sequence alone is worth the price of admission.
The soundtrack is beautiful.
It's an intense film.

When I mean issues and I am being cynical here and kncoking George Clooney's smug acceptance speech that year-- the reason some of us pick on Crash-- which I like, but don't love is because it is one of those films that makes Hollywood feel good about themselves.
The following year they nominated Babel and before that you had the likes of Traffic and Erin Brockovich. Long before that Coming Home or Mississippi Burning.
My previous comment is very cynical because I just don't think the film was in the same league as Munich or Brokeback Mountain that year and there were a lot of truly great films that year.
But Crash is their kind of film.
It is the Los Angeles like to see--
Maybe they felt bad because they never gave it to Altman or PTA before.
